Kristin On Tony Kiss With Sean Hayes

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Kristin Chenoweth says her on-stage kiss with Sean Hayes at the Tonys was no hard task.

‘The kiss came easy – and it was real, too!’ the performer declared.

‘He’s a very good kisser. And yes, I enjoyed myself. And yes, he had good breath!’

The pair, who co-star in the Broadway production of Promises, Promises, locked lips as a response to the recent controversial Newsweek article that questioned whether gay actors could play heterosexual characters.

The 41-year-old and the former Will & Grace actor “wanted to address the Newsweek thing, but we didn’t want to say it”, she told Us magazine.

Chenoweth also revealed her disappointment at the awards night in not meeting Jay-Z and Beyonce because she was too shy.

‘I am kind of weird about celebrities and I don’t ever really know if they want to say hello to me. It’s this weird thing I have.’

Offstage With Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

Promises, Promises co-stars Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth prove they’re just as funny off stage as they are on.

*

Whenever Sean Hayes and Kristin Chenoweth wrap up their run in Promises, Promises, someone should build a sitcom around the Emmy-winning stars. We know they’re both funny in their own right: Anyone who saw Hayes as the flamboyantly out-and-proud Jack on “Will & Grace” or Chenoweth pining for the pie-maker on the sweet dramedy “Pushing Daisies” can vouch for that. But together, they exude an inimitable fizzy chemistry — the kind you want to bottle and dole out in 22-minute must-see weekly doses.

Kristin on The View

Friday, June 4th, 2010

Kristin and Sean Hayes were on The View yesterday and I have a little clip here you can watch of them talking about the Newsweek article and also a clip of them performing “I’ll Never Fall In Love Again” from the Broadway show “Promises, Promises”:

Kristin Takes On Promises, Promises

Monday, April 26th, 2010

When producers first approached Kristin Chenoweth about playing the female lead in the musical “Promises, Promises,” she was hesitant and more than a little worried about taking on the role.

One of Broadway’s brightest stars, she’s best known for her zany portrayals of upbeat, comic characters in musicals such as ” Wicked” and “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” and she’s won more fans with her television work, first on “The West Wing,” later in her Emmy-winning performance on “Pushing Daisies,” and most recently in a recurring guest spot on the hit series “Glee.”

But in the Neil Simon adaptation of Billy Wilder’s classic film “The Apartment,” Chenoweth would be showing audiences a darker, more complex side, playing Fran Kubelik, a woman who has an affair with her married boss, slides into depression and then attempts suicide. Would the public accept her in such a different role?

Kristin Chenoweth is Full of Glee

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009

Recent Emmy winner Kristin Chenoweth brings some literal glee when she guest-stars on Glee Wednesday (9/8c, Fox). Chenoweth plays April Rhodes, a boozy former classmate of Will’s who has a penchant for really young men. TVGuide.com spoke to Chenoweth about her uncharacteristic Glee gig, when she’ll be appearing on Mad Men and what really happened on Emmy night.

TVGuide.com: Tell us about April.
Kristin Chenoweth:
April is a woman who was kind of “the deal” in glee in high school with Matthew Morrison’s character. Let’s just say he calls on April for some “help.”

TVGuide.com: How did you like playing such a different role?
Chenoweth:
This part is like nothing I’ve had the chance to do on TV. She’s very happy when drinking to ease her pain. I also sing in three very different styles, which is always fun and challenging.

TVGuide.com: Have you thought about joining Glee full-time?
Chenoweth:
I’d love to come back to this show. The cast is superb and the writing is dead-on. I truly had a blast playing this character.

Kristin Chenoweth weeps at Emmys

TVGuide.com: Is there a possibility of that happening?
Chenoweth:
Ryan Murphy, the creator and genius behind Glee, has indicated that he’d love for April to come back some time. However, they are all working hard to figure out stories all the time. It’d be great for it to make sense for her to come back.

TVGuide.com: Were you surprised about winning the Emmy?
Chenoweth:
Shock doesn’t begin to describe how I felt when Jon Hamm called my name. I believe Tina Fey practically carried me offstage. I was in such good company. I just was so honored to get nominated. So to win it, it was a proud moment for our entire show. Pushing Daisies is the highlight of my career. I miss it, and the cast and crew and writers every day.

Kristin Chenoweth treated for migraine at Emmys

TVGuide.com: A lot of rumors were going around about what happened to you after you won the Emmy. Can you set the record straight?
Chenoweth:
Yes, I had a horrific migraine after the press, after I won. Those people who get them know it’s like a brain freeze that won’t end. I was hoping it’d go away so I could celebrate. That didn’t happen. But it was the best four minutes in my life.

TVGuide.com: Have any of the shows you mentioned in your acceptance speech offered you any roles?
Chenoweth:
None of the shows I mentioned have called! But that’s OK! I am huge fan of each of them and continue to be a loyal viewer!

Are you looking forward to seeing Chenoweth on Glee? And where else would you like to see her on your television dial?

Kristin Talks “Daisies” In New Interview

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Tony Award-winning stage and screen star Kristin Chenoweth is featured in a new interview with PopEater.com.

When asked if the Emmy Award nomination helps soften the blow of the cancellation of “Pushing Daisies,” Chenoweth replies “”It certainly doesn’t suck!”

The theatre favorite later added, “I would rather had been a part of something like ‘Pushing Daisies’ — and this is just me — than something that might run for ten years but maybe won’t make that impact like this show did.”

YourTango Talks With Kristin Chenoweth

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Kristin Chenoweth is a woman of many talents. The 40-year-old actress, singer and newly minted author enchants audiences with her powerful combination of on-point acting chops, prodigious vocal ability and down-to-earth charm. In just the past few months Chenoweth has starred with Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn in Four Christmases, released an album of her favorite holiday songs and written a memoir, A Little Bit Wicked: Life, Love and Faith in Stages, which arrives in bookstores this April. Whew! When YourTango caught up with the busy phenom she revealed her romantic side in a discussion about her first love and finding “the one.”

What’s the best relationship advice you’ve ever received?
Not to project what the other person is feeling, and that men can’t read our minds. We’d love it if they could, but they can’t.

In your experience, when it comes to romantic relationships, what’s the biggest difference between men and women?
Women have to talk everything out but don’t need a solution right away. Men have to fix it.

What’s the craziest or most out-of-character thing you’ve ever done for love?
Flying to meet a boyfriend in another country. He said “Come,” so I went.

What is your biggest romantic regret?
Flying to meet a boyfriend in another country! The minute I got there, I knew something was wrong—he’d cheated, or something—but I stayed. I hung around long enough to get hurt. I wish I had listened to my heart saying “Go home.”

I’m a sucker for a man/woman who_____.
A man in a suit. I love to see a man in a nice suit, like Armani.

What’s the biggest compliment a partner has ever paid you?
When I walked into a restaurant and my ex-boyfriend said, “You know, the whole room stops when you enter it.”

Who was your first love?
I love him still! His name was Sean Ryan. An Oklahoma boy and my college sweetheart. We got promised and the whole Southern thing.

I feel sexiest when _____?
When I’m just in jeans and a T-shirt and a ponytail. I love hair and makeup and all that stuff, but I like to put on mascara, lip gloss and a T-shirt.

What couple do you admire most? The pair can be from real life, history, fiction, film, etc.
I look at couples like Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn and realize that they aren’t married in the traditional set-up, but whatever they have there, it works.

Is there such a thing as “the one“?
Oh God, yes. I know a lot of women—and a lot of men—say “There’s a lot of ‘the Ones’ out there,” but I’m a romantic.
